Comment: We swung into the Bogey Factory in Verona a few weeks ago before a much anticipated Friday night hockey game against the Wildcats. I knew from social media that their Fish Fry special existed, but that was about the extent of it.
It turns out the Friday offerings are relatively straightforward - 2 or 3 piece cod with slaw and fries (there may have been some other sides to choose from, but as far as I’m concerned that was the extent of it). For starters, the place is very new and the bar is really nice. If you’re into the golf simulators (which I personally am not) you’ll love it for sure. As far as the food goes, they haven’t quite found their long game.
The 3-piece featured a unique breading that looked appealing, but spent a beat too long in the fryer. This coating has some serious potential but the extra frying time left it leathery and parts of the cod, chewy. It was buoyed by a thick and tangy tartar that I slathered on in spades. The sauce was definitely the boss here.
A smattering of delightfully crispy battered fries were a nice pick-me-up with their only shortcoming being their scant numbers. The back nine wrapped up with a homemade looking slaw that found the fairway, but was fell just under par.
The BF is new to the FFF scene and is still working on their drive, but to their credit the raw talent looks like it’s there. I’m intrigued to see how much closer to the green a little more practice puts them. As for this round, it ended up in the rough but it’s nothing they can’t recover from.https://thebogeyfactory.com
