Comment: Once you have a kid, supper clubbing, or any kind of clubbing really, can be a challenge. As Wisconsinites know, Friday night at the club comes with a few things that aren’t necessarily kid-friendly: a relatively raucous atmosphere, crowded confines, and often lengthy waits before dinner. As adults, we make accommodations both mentally and physically to handle these trials, and can often learn to appreciate (or even enjoy them i.e. a few Old Fashioneds before dinner)… with kids it’s tougher.
Our 12 year old is finally supper club capable and he handled our 90 minute wait at @mars_resort with ease this Friday. Despite showing up before 6pm we weren’t seated until 7:30 or so, and didn’t see food until it was almost 8:00. Our bluegill was a sight for sore eyes if ever there was one.
The portions were princely and the fillets were absolutely monstrous for the sunfish. Each was slick and snappy with a light breading that allowed that lovely freshwater flavor to flourish. It was bolstered by a thick and tangy tartar any club would be happy to put in their rotation.
Being that Lake Geneva is on the eastern third of the state, potato pancakes made an appearance on the menu yet again. This duo did the deed and were accompanied by both apple sauce AND sour cream without me asking for either. Top form. A sizable bowl of creamy yet tangy slaw rounded things out and looked and tasted like it was made in-house to me.
After a really tasty Fish Fry at @pier_290 for lunch the bar was set pretty high for dinner. Mars Resort did nothing less than blow that bar straight out of the Lake Como waters. Overall, we highly recommend this Fish Fry and think Mars’ bluegill is truly out of this world. It was easily one of the best parts of Lake Geneva Spring Break 2026 in my book!
