Comment: Ive said it once and Ill say it again when you want a Fish Fry that everyone will enjoy take em to Dexters.
The guys from work were down for fish so I decided it was as good a time as any to take my own advice (truth be told, I really wanted to try the sunfish that I bypassed on my the last trip and basically dragged them there). Since it was lunch we had our pick of the litter table-wise and grabbed our favorite high-top in the bar. Dexters swift bartender/waitress hybrid whipped by and took our orders lickety-split and the game was afoot.
As is the norm at Dexters the fish was ready in about 10 minutes. My $10.29 plate of sunfish looked idyllic and was nice and hot. The waitender (or should I say bartress?), and kitchen were on their game as usual. I tore into the fish and it was nothing less than superb. The sunny little buggers were slightly larger than your average bluegill, but equally delicious. They boasted a light fishiness, which was a little sweet, and very tasty. The flavor melded effortlessly with Dexter's signature so-light-you-can-see-right-through-it breading. Yum. Just yum.
Dexters homemade tartar is thick and creamy, and totally kicks the fish up a notch while Dexters signature waffle fries are probably some of the best on this, or any other, planet.
Historically the slaw at Dexters has been hit and miss, with far more Ks than singles. This time around they made solid contact and the homemade blend was fresh and sweet. A plain old dinner roll did its part and drove the run that in.
Of course, I was pleased with everything on this visit to Dexters and it seemed like everyone else was too. Overall, I highly recommend the sunfish at Dexters and will continue to do so forever and ever (or at least until they stop offering it). Dexters is simply great. Bring your friends, bring your family, and don't think twice about it, theyll love it too.
