Comment: Lunches don’t get a whole lot better than the bluegill with potato pancakes at the @theshopiere.
We started our round with pull tabs, bloodies, and cheese curds, and got through most of it before the beautiful plate of fish arrived.
The eight fillets were caressed by a light and flavorful breading that offset the fishy flavor of the bluegill just right.
The potato pancakes could have been a tad warmer and could have used a little more onion in the mix, but were still plenty tasty when slathered in the accompanying syrup and/or apple sauce.
The tartar was thick and rich and appeared to be homemade, the slaw was just ok, and the slice of bread was just crusty enough to make it memorable.
I can’t say how much it cost and I also can’t say that I really care. It was good enough that I’d pay $20 for it in a heartbeat but I’m sure it was nowhere near that. Overall, this was a great Fish Fry and I’m thankful to those souls who recommended and that I was actually heading down this way on a Friday for once.
