Comment: Lake perch, soup and salad bar, and the world’s biggest cheese curds made for a superb Friday night at the 4 Mile Restaurant & Bar on the outskirts of Eau Claire.
The perch was petite but pristine and home to a nicely-seasoned light breading. The fish went down fast particularly when paired with the supper club classic tartar.
The lyonnaise potatoes (hash browns with onion) were also yummy, but the shredded cheddar didn’t do much to perk them up. Unfortunately, the cheese sauce ran out just as we ordered, and I suspect that would have taken them up the notch the cheddar didn’t.
The salad bar was fully stocked and I enjoyed it all very much especially the pumpernickel and cellophane sticks. You also can’t sleep on the curds, although they were so large you could probably use one as a pillow at least…holy moly.
When I asked for recommendations on where to go in Eau Claire I wasn’t sure what I’d get. As soon as I dug deeper into a couple of the options I knew that this was the spot for me. 4 Mile delivered the vibe, the atmosphere, and most importantly the Fish Fry. Overall, we highly recommend this one. It’s got it all and then some.4milerestaurant.com
