Comment: Good Friday FISH N CHIPS at the Beach House Bar & Grill in Lahaina, HI!

The Guinnes beer battered Mahi-mahi was actually really good for a non-traditional Fish Fry fish. The batter was 100% grease-free, and while it was thick, it wasn’t heavy. It was surprisingly well-balanced and had the needed heft to counteract the dense mahi flake.

I wasn’t expecting Hawaiians to be so good at making French fries, but they are, and this batch fell right in line with their ultra-crispy exteriors and soft middles.

The tartar was a bit thin, but had plenty of dilly tang to take the fish over the top.

While I never expected this to be as good as our beloved Wisconsin Fish Fry, the FISH N CHIPS at this Maui hotspot was definitely decent. Sure there was no slaw, and of course, no rye, but the parts that were there did the deed. It’s a good start to our Good Friday for sure.
